2015 Louisville Health Kick Festival

Fighting the winter blues? Roundhouse kick these gloomy days to the curb by joining Hwang’s Martial Arts and Kosair Children’s Hospital for a day of fun and family fitness.

2015 Louisville Health Kick Festival

This Saturday, March 7, 2015, is the Louisville Health Kick Festival!

Beginning at 12pm, there will be tons of activities for the whole family to enjoy. The kids can visit with Batman, Superman, Anna, and Elsa, while their parents can take advantage of free health screenings that will be provided by Norton Healthcare. Inflatables and exercise demonstrations will get the whole crowd moving. We could all use a way to burn off some of this snow day energy! There will be a silent auction, raffle, emergency vehicles to explore, and even a petting zoo with all kinds of furry little critters to check out.

The most exciting part of the day, however, will certainly be the various martial arts demonstrations put on by the students and instructors at Hwang’s Martials Arts. Attendees can expect to see performances by the HMA Demonstration Team, SWAT Team, weapons demonstrations, and a once-a-year demo by the 1984 Olympic silver medalist, Grandmaster Hwang.

All of the money raised, collected, and donated during the event will go directly to Kosair Children’s Hospital. My Admin, Kim Statler, has a son that attends Hwang’s Martial Arts, and she cannot say enough about how the school puts a huge emphasis on community outreach:

“Hwang’s Martial Arts has been a truly wonderful place in which we can be involved. My son has been studying Taekwondo for over a year now, and he has learned so much more than the form, movements, and self-defense. Grandmaster Hwang puts such a huge focus on giving back to the community of Louisville, and we are so happy to be a part of it! The students, families, and instructors have been raising money for Kosair Children’s Hospital for weeks now, and everyone is excited to hear the grand total at the Louisville Health Kick Festival. These kids are so excited to perform and show off all that they’ve been working on, so I hope everyone looking for a family activity joins us to check it all out!”

So, if you are looking for a fun activity for the whole family this weekend, you should certainly head on down to the Louisville Health Kick Festival. Admission is $5 per person; children under 5 are free. The event is from 12 until 4 at the Kentucky International Convention Center, located in downtown Louisville. There is no better way to celebrate health than by supporting Louisville’s own Kosair Children’s Hospital!
