Middletown Kentucky Homes for Sale.
Middletown borders two major thoroughfares, I-64 and I-265 and is about 10 miles outside of downtown Louisville. While it is located about midway between Louisville and Shelbyville, “Middle Station” was mentioned in early court records as the middle point between to major settlements along the Ohio River, Westport and Shippingport. This is how many believe Middletown really got its name. This area was originally owned by a veteran of the Revolutionary War. It was an early trading center for many of the farms surrounding it. Middletown had a large number of general stores, small shops, and factories. It was chartered by the Jefferson County Court in 1797 and incorporated into a fourth-class city in 1982. Many structures located in the city are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as two historic districts which have over 100 individual properties. With easy access to Shelbyville Road and Blankenbaker Parkway, the shopping, dining, and activities are endless!
